Dear Prospective VSA,
The incoming Northeast Union of Vietnamese Student Associations (Northeast UVSA) Executive Board understands you have expressed interest in partnering with us for the 2022-2023 school year. A potential partnership will allow your VSA to join our regional organization along many other constituent VSAs within the Northeast region.
Since the integration of the nine primary regional VSA organizations, Northeast UVSA has expanded its partnership to encompass additional VSA organizations. University of Pennsylvania VSA, Drexel VSA, and New York University VSA are just a few of the contemporary VSAs that were integrated during the 2019-2020 term. Because some of our missions as a regional organization include promoting Vietnamese culture, providing opportunities for leadership development, and serving as a champion for diversity and inclusion, we are mutually interested in partnering with your VSA, assuming your goals and missions align with ours.
Subsequently, if you have mutual interests in joining Northeast UVSA as a constituent VSA organization, we would love to have you begin our application process and trial period as the next step to constituency.
As a reminder, in Article III: Membership, Section 7.a.: Future Constituent Induction of our constitution, “Induction into Northeast Northeast UVSA through successful completion of the application process, trial period, and approval vote. VSAs within the Northeast region requesting membership into Northeast UVSA must complete an application process as well as a trial period.”
The application process, part I of Future Constituent Induction entails providing us with these specific information:
Founding date of your organizational VSA
List of previous events
List of Executive Board officers prior and current
List of members
Confirmation that your VSA is established and recognized by your campus (i.e. email correspondence through a governing student organization, displayed in your University’s centralized organization website, etc.)
Provide us with this information to the best of your ability via email attached with any relevant documents at eboard@uvsanortheast.org so you can begin the trial period as soon as possible.
The subject line should be “Northeast UVSA School Membership Application”
The semester trial period will consist of adhering to these goals:
Attendance and participation in two Senate (Your Senator is your school’s representative without voting rights until your official admission into Northeast UVSA) meetings
Attendance in Northeast UVSA events (which includes our constituent VSAs large scale events)
Senate meetings are occurring regularly throughout the year. Northeast UVSA events are expected to begin as soon as November with Northeast Annual Fall Summit registration opening in October. After demonstrating interest in Northeast UVSA and its regional events during your semester trial period, admission into Northeast UVSA will be granted with voting approval of ⅔ of the required Senate voting quorum.
We heavily encourage you to discuss this email with your Executive Board members. In addition, please take time to carefully read through our constitution, as we list our mission, membership - what it means to be a constituent, Senate and Cabinet guidelines, Election process, and other important organizational details.
